Mansfield, Ohio – Police recovered a Chevy Impala reported stolen Friday morning by a 48-year-old woman who told officers someone apparently took car keys from an end table just inside her front door.
Police tracked the location of the moving vehicle using a GPS device kept in the car.
An officer activated emergency lights for a traffic stop near Wilmar and Cline Avenue, then watched the 17-year-old male driver stop the car, exit his seat and move to the rear. The 17-year-old driver told police he was present when another boy took the keys but did not know the vehicle was stolen. Police arrested a 15-year-old who admitted taking the car keys, along with the 17-year-old driver. The two teens were taken to the Richland County Juvenile Detention Center. Police reports said felony charges are expected. A leafy green substance was found in the younger boy’s sock, according to police reports.
