The Australian company (DMP), which holds the master-franchise rights to the Domino’s brand in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, France and the Netherlands, said in early May it would be the first company in the world to let customers track their pizzas’ journey to their doors on smartphones, tablets and TV screens.
Domino’s said today it is hiring both drivers and cyclists to respond to an expected surge in orders when the technology launches in Australia in July and New Zealand in August, across 600 stores in total.
“We have seen an incredible response to the GPS Driver Tracker in the test markets, with it not only improving efficiency at a store level but our customers love engaging with the technology and our drivers,” Domino’s chief executive Don Meij said.
Inspired by Uber Technologies’ ride-sharing app, Domino’s also plans to take the driver-tracking service to the Netherlands by Christmas and to Japan, France and Belgium by the end of next year.
