How to Install a Waterproof GPS Tracker on a Motorcycle
Installing a waterproof GPS tracker on your motorcycle comes down to three wires and a few connections at the battery. This guide walks you through each step, from pulling the seat to your first ride.
The tracker is built to handle the elements, so it can live on your bike through rain, washes, and everyday riding.

Getting to the Battery:
On most motorcycles, the battery sits under the seat. Start by removing the seat to give yourself room to work.
On the bike in our video, only one bolt needed to come out to free the seat. Your bike may use a different setup, so check your owner’s manual if the seat doesn’t lift off easily.
The Three Wires You’ll Use:
This installation only uses three wires from the tracker:
- Red: constant 12 volt power
- Black: ground
- Blue: ignition sense
If your bike doesn’t have an ignition source to tap into, leave the blue wire loose. Then call our tech support team and we’ll set the tracker up for virtual ignition.
Wiring Hardware for a Clean Install:
To keep the installation clean and secure, we used three pieces of hardware:
- A fuse to protect the tracker
- Ring terminals to attach the wires at the battery
- A butt connector to join wires securely
Is the Fuse Required?
The fuse is optional, but it helps protect the device from power surges. The connectors make sure your wires stay solidly in place, even with the vibration of a motorcycle.
Connecting at the Battery:
Power
We had to raise the battery slightly to reach the positive terminal. Undo the positive terminal bolt, connect the red wire using its ring terminal, and tighten the bolt back down.
Ground
Loosen one of the battery bolts, attach the black wire with its ring terminal, and tighten the bolt back down.
Watch for the LED Lights
Once the tracker is connected, a blue and a red LED light will start to flash on the device.
They’ll turn solid once the tracker locks on to a signal.
Sealing the Connections and Mounting the Tracker:
Once everything is secure, wrap the connections with electrical tape. This protects them from the elements and helps the installation last longer.
Mount the device somewhere that isn’t surrounded by metal, since metal can block the signal. Secure it in place with zip ties or Velcro so it stays put while you ride.
Finishing Up and Taking Your First Ride:
It may take up to 15 minutes for the tracker to power on. While you wait, replace the seat. To help it find a signal, take the bike outside and go for a short ride. This helps the tracker make its first connection.
Your Motorcycle Is Ready to Go
That’s it. Your waterproof GPS tracker is installed and ready to keep tabs on your bike wherever it goes.
