How to Set Up a Geofence
Our improved geofences let you draw a boundary in any shape you want, so your alerts match the exact property you’re protecting. A geofence is a virtual boundary around a location in the GPS Track Fleet Portal. When a tracked asset enters or leaves that boundary, you get an alert. With the new polygon option, you’re no longer limited to a simple circle. You can trace the outline of a building, a lot, or a rental property and get notified the moment equipment crosses it.

To open Geofencing:
Pick a Location for Your Geofence:
Enter the address of the property you want to monitor. The map will move to that location so you can start drawing your boundary.
Draw a Custom Shape with the Polygon Tool:
Select the polygon option to shape the geofence however you need.
Click around the edges of the area you want to cover, such as the outline of your building or property.
Adjust the shape until it matches the space you want to monitor.
Why Polygons Work Better for Odd-Shaped Properties
Properties rarely fit neatly inside a circle. A polygon lets you follow the actual layout of a building, lot, or complex, so you’re alerted when equipment leaves your property and not when it simply moves near the edge of a circle that doesn’t match the space.
Save and Start Getting Alerts:
When the shape looks right, click Save, and that’s it.
Your geofence can now alert you when equipment enters the property or leaves the property.
Example: Tracking Appliances in Rental Units
One GPS & Track customer needed to keep track of the appliances inside their rental units. By drawing a polygon geofence around the rental property, they can be alerted if an appliance with a tracker leaves the building. The same approach works for tools, equipment, trailers, or any asset that should stay on site.
Keep Assets Where They Belong with Polygon Geofences
By drawing the exact shape of your property and saving it in just a few clicks, you can get notified as soon as equipment comes or goes, respond quickly to unauthorized movement, and protect assets wherever they’re kept.
