Remote Starter Disable:
Three Ways to Stop a
Financed Vehicle

When a financed vehicle goes into default, the hardest part of the repo is usually catching the car in one place. Starter disable takes that problem off the table.

Our hardwired GPS trackers for buy here pay here dealers and auto finance companies come with a starter disable relay included at no extra cost. Once a vehicle is disabled, it isn’t going anywhere, and your recovery agent can pick it up right away.

A Free Relay That Keeps the Car Where It Is

Starter disable works through a relay wired in alongside the tracker. When you send the command, the vehicle can’t be started again until you restore it.
The relay comes included with every hardwired tracker for auto financing, so there’s no add-on to buy. Connect it at install, and the option is ready whenever an account needs it.

Every recovery looks a little different, so you can choose when the disable takes effect.

  • While it’s parked. Disable a stationary vehicle and it stays right where it is. The repo agent knows exactly where to go, and the car will still be there when they arrive.
  • When it reaches an address. Set a location, and the vehicle disables only once it gets there. That’s useful when you want the car to stop somewhere specific, like the borrower’s home or a spot that’s easy for your agent to reach.
  • While it’s being driven. Disabling a moving vehicle never shuts it down on the road. The driver can finish the trip, but the next time the ignition is turned off, the car won’t start back up.

Recoveries That Cost Less

A vehicle that can’t move is a vehicle your agent doesn’t have to chase. With starter disable on your side, recoveries are:

  • Faster, because the car is waiting at a known location instead of moving between stops
  • Easier, with fewer return trips and no guessing where it went next
  • Less expensive, since less time searching means a smaller recovery bill
